The Pure Hell
Story
Pure Hell, originally powered by a
small block Chevy, was the first Fuel Altered to over 180 M.P.H.
and under 8.50 seconds. It held M.P.H. and E.T.
records at one time or another at every strip it has ever run,
with the exception of Orange County. At Orange County, Pure
Hell held the M.P.H. record. At the 1968 Winternationals,
after switching to a Chrysler Hemi engine, Pure Hell set the M.P.H.
record at 207. The car's best M.P.H. was 214 and the best
E.T. was 7.27 during match-race competition. Read the Pure
